JEWELRY LAYERING TREND S/S 2021 | TAILOR-MADE TREND FOR NDSG
By Roberta Audibert, Fashion Designer
March and April: two months that “taste of many things”.
These are months of transition, where some days already show us a preview of the spring/summer climate, while others remind us that we still need those sweaters that we had put in the bottom drawer of our closet. We begin to feel the smells of spring, the warmth of the sun on the skin, that light spring wind….
March and April are the months of “We will go, we will do, I wish, …. “
In this period of transition one important thing must not be forgotten: the arrival of the new collections and shopping for spring/summer! Also in terms of shopping March and April are two important months, we begin to think about the new spring and summer wardrobe, we begin to lighten ourselves, to use new colors, more vivid colors.
And what about the jewelry?
In the world of clothing it's simple, there is the winter season and then the summer one, but how does it work with jewels? Also in this fashion sector, are there any differences between the seasons? Can we talk about “winter jewels” and “spring/summer jewels”? Or is it not the jewel itself that changes appearance, but it’s simply the way we wear it?
There is not exactly a right and a wrong statement, but it’s certainly "super true" that the way we wear jewelry changes according to the season in which we find ourselves. Just as we have trends in womenswear and menswear, millions of new trends are found every year in jewelry design, which focus on the shape of the jewel rather than on the material, or on how the latter are worn.
One of the trends of S/S 2021, which seems tailor-made for NDSG is the “Jewelry Layering Trend”. If we were to make a literal translation, we would speak of a layering of the jewel, that is, a jewel in layers, as composed of many levels.
But what exactly is it about?
"Layering" is the art of overlapping several necklaces of different lengths and wearing them all at the same time. The same thing can happen, too, with bracelets and rings. So the trend of this spring/summer is to wear layered necklaces, different types of rings on one hand, a multitude of bracelets and "so on and so forth" ….
What could be better than NDSG's "Twist" necklaces and bracelets to create your perfect "Layering"?
Our "Twist" fabric is entirely handmade, weaving silk threads with the diamond micro-chain in 925°° silver. The “Twist” necklaces are thin and bright, as if they were threads that can be knotted or left loose like jeweled scarves. They are also made in the four colors of gold, intertwined with a wide range of colorful silk threads: fluorescent orange, burgundy, jeans, brown, military, black, neon pink, emerald, red, turquoise, purple and lime.
The “Twist” necklaces are perfect to be superimposed on each other and create a super colorful layering, bright and fun at the same time. You can choose how to wear them and how to overlap them, and what length to give them: you can wear one knotted like a choker, another a little longer with a simple central knot, still another you can turn around the neck like a scarf. Its characteristic is that you can play it however you want, it’s not a jewel that sets limits or that forces you to wear it in a certain way, rather its purpose is precisely to free the creativity of the wearer. If you can also create the right color combination, it will be a success!
If you are a lover of bracelets rather than necklaces, don't worry, the same concept of the "Twist" necklaces can also be found in the bracelets that are part of the same collection. You can indulge in colors and an infinite number of "Twist" bracelets to tie on your wrist.
Obviously when we talk about “Layering”, it's not only the necklaces and bracelets that are superimposed, but also the rings. After all we have five fingers, why limit ourselves to just one ring or two?
With the NDSG rings from the “Oro, Argento e Seta" collection, you can have fun creating unique color palettes for your hand and mixing our "Rhombus" pattern with the "Zig Zag" one: the first gives a melange effect refined and elegant and the second has a fresh and colorful style, distinguished by the so-called “put together”, and by playing with several shades of the same color, beautiful palettes are created in a single ring.
NDSG jewels leave you free to express yourself however you want, that's why the “Layering trend” is perfectly associated with our jewels. In reality we could define it as a “trend non-trend”, as there are no strict diktats to follow, the “Jewelry Layering Trend” has one and only rule: the more jewels the better!
For the rest, let yourself be carried away by your imagination and give free rein to your fancy and you will certainly not go wrong!
